Read ahead for a written breakdown of each podcast episode, photos, links and bonus content that didn’t make the cut for the podcast. Happy reading and if you want to check out the podcast where myself and Hayden Day discuss a little about a lot, follow the links below.

Welcome back to the fourth edition of the show notes for our brand new podcast. I am excited to return this week with both these show notes and the podcast episode. I hope that the show notes will add that further layer of communication between the two of us and our listeners by providing additional information but I’m sure it won’t beat listening to us chat away first hand. We hope that you enjoy listening and will consider subscribing and making the Discussed It podcast a part of your weekly routine.

Within this episode, we:

  • Attempt to dismantle and discuss conspiracy theories.
  • See how our week has gone with the Weekly Round-up.
  • And much more…

Topic 1 – Conspiracy Theories

This week we decided to embark on a conversation about conspiracy theories. This subject is something that Hayden and myself have discussed in the past and we thought that it would be fun to sit in front of a microphone and explore some select theories that have captured our attention.

Both of us chose one or two theories each and spent some time doing some personal research on that particular theory, gathering some facts and formulating our own opinion. We then vocalised our findings to the other person and then discussed what we thought about the different theories trying to explain a phenomenon and then towards the end gauged our opinion on what theory we believed the most if any at that.

We thought this was a really fun exercise, for us at least and we hope you enjoy the conversation and perhaps learn something you didn’t know. Who said we’re not an informative podcast at times!

I will give a brief outline of the theories discussed but if you want to find out more, follow the links below:

I decided to discuss the phenomenon that is ‘Area 51’ which has become the focal point of alien conspiracy theories in America for decades.

Within the discussion, I expand on the reason behind the inception of the base and some potential explanations for the strange occurrences in the area at the time. I also dive into some of the claims that have fueled the fire and added more substance to the theories. A person that comes up in the discussion is Robert Lazar who is a well-known person within Area 51 discussion circles. He featured in the 2018 documentary, Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers and was invited on the Joe Rogan podcast which then led to far more attention on the subject. I have linked up both of these if you fancy checking them out.

Hayden’s choice of conspiracy theory was whether the ‘The Moon Landing Was Faked’. This is another theory that is bounced around a lot. I must say that I was not very educated on some of the evidence that gives substance to these claims so I learnt a lot during this particular conversation. Some of what Hayden revealed is plausible and makes sense but I remain confident in the fact that man has stepped on the moon, but again any theory retains the possibility to be disproven which is explored by Karl Popper an Austrian-British philosopher of science.

Hayden also discussed an architectural conspiracy theory involving Norman Foster, but that is all I am revealing here. You’ll have to give this episode a listen to find what Foster is wrapped up in, I will admit that this one sounds rather far fetched but you never know!

The Weekly Round-Up

I feel that it would be wise to offer some explanation for this segment which will become a recurring section of the podcast each week, or at least we think it will be. The general idea is that every week, each of us will choose three weeks that best sum up that week trying to be as honest as possible and then will explain the reasoning behind the selection of the words. The chosen three words will be kept secret from the other person until recording which we hope will allow for some interesting conversation.

In these show notes, I will provide our words but if you want any explanations then you’ll have to give our podcast a listen. Can’t give it all away here sorry readers!

My three words of the week were:

  1. Car
  2. Lectures
  3. Drawing

And Hayden’s words of the week were:

  1. Guests
  2. Podcasts
  3. Margate

This week it was obvious to see that we kept our words away from each other as there was some overlap in the reasoning behind our choice in word. I doubt you’ll be able to work out which two words those were so you’’ have to listen to the podcast to find that out.

‘Thing’ Of The Week

Not dissimilar to The Weekly Roundup, this will also be a recurring segment of the show. In this section of the podcast, each of us will choose their favourite thing that we have seen over the week. This could be absolutely anything ranging from a product, food, architect etc. that has stuck in our minds. Most probably our ‘thing’ of the week will be utterly useless to yourself, but you never know.

This week Hayden’s Thing Of The Week was:

“Arrow Puzzles”

Hayden’s ‘Thing Of The Week’ was Arrow Puzzles which has been something that has filled his time over the last week. He’s found his inside the newspapers but if you fancy giving these a go then I have included a link to a book exclusively for ‘Arrow Puzzles’. Happy puzzling!

Moving on, my Thing Of The Week was:

“Banana Bread

I decided to head down an alternative route with my ‘Thing Of The Week’ this week and chose a foodstuff that has captured my attention this week.

Following the recipe from the BBC Good Food website, I managed to make myself some banana bread which I thoroughly enjoyed both cooking and eating. Highly recommend the recipe and it is a good way to get rid of those bruised bananas in the fruit bowl.

I hope that the show notes have provided that further layer of communication between the two of us and you, our listeners, by providing additional information, but I’m sure it won’t beat listening to us chat away first hand. We hope that you enjoyed listening and will consider subscribing and making the Discussed It podcast a part of your weekly routine.

I also highly recommend checking out last week’s episode after listening to this week as we invited our very first guest, Kyle Sinko. A highly interesting individual with a range of topics discussed which will prove valuable to all. The link to that particular episode is linked below.

Cheers to exciting times, happy listening!
